Molloy College is nearing completion of its newest academic building, The Barbara H. Hagan Center for Nursing, thanks in part to its partnership with the Town of Hempstead Local Development Corporation (which helped the College get low-interest financing through the issuance of tax-exempt bonds).
The sustainably designed and LEED-certified building will provide consolidated space for the Nursing Division, along with additional classroom and meeting areas. The new structure will also include specially designed nursing laboratories, a telepresence room, a computer laboratory, simulation rooms and a healing garden.
“Over the last ten years College enrollment has increased by 80 percent, but instructional space has increased by only 18 percent,” said Dr. Drew Bogner, Molloy’s President. “This wonderful new facility will enable us to offer additional academic opportunities for students in our Division of Nursing, which is one of the largest programs in the country. Additionally, The Hagan Center for Nursing will also enable us to continue to provide extremely well-trained nurses that are desperately needed in today’s healthcare system.”
The College also recently renovated Maria Regina Hall, which originally housed the Dominican Sisters who founded Molloy. Maria Regina has now been transformed into a residence hall housing approximately 100 students.
